Quick start

Five commands to go from an empty server to live translations.

1. Invite the bot

Use Add to Discord in the site nav. Keep the default permissions — webhook access is required so translations post as the original member.

Drag BabelWeave’s role above language roles in Server Settings → Roles, or it cannot assign them.

2. Create a group

/translate group create name:global-chat

A group is a set of language channels that share translations.

3. Add language channels

/translate channel add group:global-chat channel:#english language:en
/translate channel add group:global-chat channel:#español language:es

Repeat per language. Autocomplete accepts English names (chinese) and native names (中文). See languages.

If permission management is on (the default), BabelWeave creates a language role and hides the channel from members who don’t have it.

4. Post the role panel

/translate roles setup channel:#welcome

Members pick languages from a dropdown. The 🌐 button uses their Discord locale (/translate me does the same for yourself).

5. Test

Send a message in one mapped channel. A translated copy should appear in the sibling channels within a couple of seconds — including threads, forums, and reactions.
