Troubleshooting

Most issues are permissions, an unmapped channel, or a spent daily quota.

Nothing is translating

Confirm both channels are in the same group (/translate group info).
The bot needs Manage Webhooks in that channel or category.
Enable Message Content Intent is a developer-portal setting — if you self-host, it must be on.
Bots and other webhooks are ignored on purpose so BabelWeave doesn’t loop.

Missing Access / can’t see the category

Give BabelWeave View Channel (and Manage Webhooks) on the category, then retry. Private categories the bot isn’t in will fail with Missing Access.

Roles aren’t assigned

Move the BabelWeave role above language roles. Then run /translate roles sync-all or /translate roles setup again.

Quota reached

/translate status shows used / remaining. Caps reset at midnight UTC. Upgrade in Discord from that same command if you’re on Free. See plans.

Can’t find a language in autocomplete

Type the English name (chinese, croatian), ISO code, or native script. Full list: languages.

Clone / backfill asks me to upgrade

Those features are Pro+. Use the Subscribe buttons Discord shows, or compare limits on pricing.

Join the BabelWeave support server and post in #support. Include the server name, the command you ran, and the error text.
